You just can’t recreate the old world glamour of Alfredo Restaurant in Treviso’s old town. Enter via the dark-hued bar area that doubles as a vaguely illicit smoking room and enjoy an aperitif as you wait for your sharply suited waiter to come and collect you.

The main dining room’s Art Nouveau style interiors appear to be completely unchanged from when the upmarket restaurant first opened in 1962 – The same could be said for its hushed ambience. The cuisine is traditional Italian with strong elements of refinement and seasonality. And for those looking to splash out for the evening, there are plenty of rare Italian Barolos to choose from.

Once dinner has concluded, make your way back to the smoking room for a digestive and a cigar if you’re so inclined.
