Berners Tavern should be your first thought when you fancy a dose of serious glamour in central London. Located inside the London EDITION hotel in Fitzrovia, there is nothing old school about this glamour, despite first appearances. Yes, the walls are covered with gilded baroque-style frames, but the overall effect is very modern and overtly stylish – this is a hotel that the London Fashion Week clique stays, after all.

Berners Tavern is another of Jason Atherton’s venues – the Michelin-starred English chef is a force to be reckoned with in London right now, and everything he touches turns to gold.

My tip is to visit Berners Tavern for breakfast. You’ll need to book, but then you can start your day surrounded by impressive opulence – the coffee is good, the service is perfection, and the stacks of French toast, pancakes and waffles are heaven on a plate (that whipped vanilla cream…!)
