Boutique Hotel Find: Sir Albert Amsterdam
The name Sir Albert suggests that it’s not a conventional hotel. There’s something personal attached to its formal signature that implies you’ll be treated as an intimate guest rather than a passing tourist.
The rooms are situated in a sort of silenced enclave away from the bustling bar scene below and feature large windows and high ceilings, which are enduring features from the buildings former life as a diamond factory. The beds are wonderfully oversized and the rooms are furnished in an understated style that’s perfectly in keeping with Amsterdam’s contemporary sensibilities.
And Sir Albert’s location can’t be beat. To one side is a modern mix of restaurants, bars and Europe’s largest weekend market. Across the strollable canals are all three of Amsterdam’s major museums: the Rijks, Van Gogh and Stedelijk. Just a little further on (ideal biking distance) is Paradiso: a converted church and live music venue where there’s a band of excellent repute playing almost every night.
Rooms start from €116 p/n
