Boutique Hotel Find: Villa Le Maschere Tuscany
Few things feel more Italian than Tuscany in the global collective imagination. All good things about the country here are brought to the highest level: dreamy landscapes, the best food and wines and a unique historic cultural heritage.
The cradle of Italy’s fame also offers enchanting hospitality opportunities such as the recently restored Villa Le Maschere. Getting its name from the 22 masks sculpted on its façade, this stunning villa was built in the second half of the Sixteenth Century as a home to the Bettini family and sadly ended up completely abandoned in the 1960s.
The UNA Hotel group added the villa to its portfolio, giving back the original splendour with a contemporary touch. Original frescos and floors are paired with design details for a chic and clean atmosphere. Suites go from great to mind blowing, as you might be lucky enough to sleep under famous artists decorations and sculptures.
My personal favourite is the garden and the pool area, with a breath-taking view over the Mugello Hills to be enjoyed after SPA treatments or a day on the green at UNA Poggio Dei Medici Golf Club, just 10km away. If you feel like a Downton Abbey experience Italian style this is your place to relax, explore and learn from one of the most inspiring areas of Italy, and possibly the universe.
