At Melting Butter we take our music pretty seriously (just have a listen to our monthly Fresh Fifteen playlists). So it was only a matter of time before we made multiple visits to Sonos Studio London, a building consisting of café and versatile spaces, aimed to help you find a musical or creative experience of your preference.

You don’t have to be in music industry to enjoy what Sonos Studio has to offer, but if you are, you’d probably find yourself returning time after time even if just to pick up a coffee in a curated sound environment. There are free workshops, discussions with industry experts and hack days bringing together technologists and artists. The evening calendar is full of listening parties, performances and screenings in their gallery/performance space, which are also open to anyone.

The standout spaces are the Experience and Listening Rooms. The Experience Room invites you to explore conceptual themes of sound curated by an artist in private setting. On the other hand, The Listening Room offers context for Sonos products- the space feels as though you are visiting your achingly cool friend’s home decorated with perfectly worn leather chairs and unlimited supply of Sonos speakers.

In the age when making music can be an endless solitary process in your room, a visit to the Sonos Studio reminds us that music and creativity should be a shared and open experience.
