Café Find: Cafe Kitsune Tokyo
French label Maison Kitsune knows a thing or two about style. So it should come as no surprise that their cafe offshoot is filled with stylish sorts, and lots of cozy Instagram-worthy nooks for sipping iced matcha. Just next door to their Aoyama shop, Cafe Kitsune is popular with locals and tourists alike who nibble mini baguette sandwiches in between marathon shopping sessions in the trendy neighborhood.
The sandwiches may be French, but the aesthetic is as Japanese as they come; sleek wood throughout the space is reminiscent of a traditional teahouse while the antique printed wallpaper adds a touch of whimsy.
Baristas are trained by the founder of much loved nearby Omotesando Koffee, so the attention to detail is impeccable. While you wait for your drink (perfection takes time”¦), browse through a rack of Maison Kitsune sweatshirts and limited edition collaborations, like sneakers and key chains.
For something sweet, don’t miss the fox shaped butter cookies (kitsune means “fox” in French) or grab a bag of branded Kitsune coffee beans to go for a tres chic souvenir.

Dulci is an art director and recent West Coast transplant after 11 years in New York City. She’s equally happy fly-fishing in the pampas of Patagonia or eating pan tomate around midnight in Madrid. She documents it all on Instagram and her travel site. Her dream is to live in Tokyo. |
