Café Find: Maman NYC
Those who have spent enough time in France will understand that New York City is not the place to find Pain au Chocolat of the buttery, flaky variety. I for one stopped buying French pastries in this city for fear of ending up with yet another brick of doughnutty textured pastry that oozes far too much chocolate sauce. That was at least until Maman NYC, a promising French bakery and lunch spot recently set up shop on a quiet stretch of Soho.
The cookie is meant to be the star of the show at Maman, and yes, they are warm, gooey and delightful, but it’s the pasties that get this writer going.
Stop in for a lunch break and take your pick from the daily selection of fresh, vibrant salads, which have been prepared with love. Then walk away with your sweet treat for the day, which Maman will happily warm up for you on a crisp winter afternoon.
