Kingly Court is like Soho’s food court, with every type of restaurant you could wish for. The latest addition – a bar – is doing something a little different however: an evening at Cahoots is a mind-blowingly well-executed immersive experience.

Descend into the “Underground” to the sound of an old fashioned London Transport tannoy, drop your coats in the “ticket office” (cloakroom), and head on through, past the sandbags and luggage trunks, to the air raid shelter (bar). Not just any old air raid shelter either – this one is playing host to a post-war party to raise the spirits of Britain. Bunting and swing music set the scene, and the staff are authentically dressed, with practiced accents and backstories, remaining in character at all times.

Novel cocktails (many with ration pack ingredients such as treacle and OXO cubes!) are listed in a 1940s-style newspaper; some are even served in tin cans and Thermos flasks. The drinks won’t win any mixology prizes, but they’re generally sweet and tasty – and if you decide to order from the snack menu, the cocktail + crisp sandwich pairing is exceedingly memorable!

Booking in advance is essential – despite a hidden entrance, tables in this bar are in hot demand. Request to be seated in the tube train carriage – the ultimate spot to sip on your Welcome Back To Blighty cocktail. This is one themed bar that’s jolly good fun.
