Cocktail Bar Find: Sel Rrose NYC
A stunning amalgamation of early 20th century Parisian style and “demolition chic”, Sel Rrose on Bowery is inspired by artist Marcel Duchamp (or Rrose Sélavy, his feminine alter ego!) in its name, décor and even its cocktails.
Smooth navy leather furniture and marble-topped tables complement the distressed walls and Duchamp-inspired décor touches – industrial elements and a stunning antique cash register at centre stage behind the bar, a nod to Duchamp’s ‘Readymades’ artwork collection (everyday objects that he deemed to be works of art).
Cocktails are a homage to Duchamp’s perfume bottle artworks – delicate in both flavour and presentation, they are the epitome of sophistication – and ideally enjoyed with a tray of oysters”¦
Which brings me onto Sel Rrose’s unmissable Oyster Happy Hour. Sel Rrose opens at 5pm, from which point you have two whole hours to enjoy fresh oysters for just $1 a pop! The offer is also available all day Sunday, alongside a weekend brunch menu (think lobster rolls, Oyster Eggs Benedict and burgers).
I told you it was unmissable.
