Cool Shop Find: Top Hat NYC
With its wood-paneled walls and elegant arrangement of objects, Top Hat’s interior conjures up the coziness of a Scandinavian sauna and the breezy simplicity of a Ginza gallery. This international vibe is underscored by the provenance of the goods on display, which are sourced from far-flung locations around the world. Colorfully patterned rolls of masking tape from Japan and fabric-covered pendant light cords from Belgium sit alongside pastel-colored toolboxes from Italy and table lamps from Danish architect/design studio NORM.
Browse a little deeper, and the diversity extends to the price points – wares range from the kitchen-bling Perigot gold-colored scouring pads for $6.50, to the Maison Martin Margiela magnifying glass (price not displayed, which is a safe bet it’s somewhat more than $6.50).
