Each London Fashion Week, there’s a well-heeled stampede from the front row of the shows back to Fitzrovia’s Berners Street. Ian Schrager, often associated with the original creation of the Boutique Hotel category of accommodation, returned to this side of the pond for the first time in 15 years and launched the London EDITION Hotel.

Originally built in 1835 as five luxurious townhouses, the finest aspects of the landmark residence have been preserved, while reinventing the spaces within; the result is a dynamic fusion of past and present. The aesthetic is impossible to date, with an electric energy, two bars, a gastronomic gem of a restaurant (with Michelin-starred Jason Atherton as Executive Chef), a 24-hour fitness facility and 173 luxurious rooms and suites.

The hotel attracts local Londoners and out-of-towners alike, with its enticing ambience and imposing scale. Visit any time on any day, and the lobby is a hub of social activity, with those who come to drink, dine, meet and work in the sumptuous interior. It is a lucky minority who can call this their home from home, however, retreating to the secluded and intimate rooms and suites, each geared to individual relaxation and indulgence with wood panelling, ‘no colour’ colour palettes and tactile textiles.
