Hotel Find: Vipp Shelter Sweden
The Vipp Shelter is a unique hotel experience set on Lake Immeln, Sweden and designed by Morten Bo Jensen after the Danish design company conceived of an idea where a luxury escape could immerse its guests in nature.
Upon driving onto the properly and seeing the Shelter, you’ll be amazed at the way it fits into its lakeside environment, almost floating on the land. Sitting on stilts four feet above the forest floor, the undergrowth adapts to the structure with flora sprouting from beneath.
The surrounding wilderness is both breathtaking and eerily calm, particularly at dawn and dusk, where Lake Immeln becomes a reflection pond. The interplay between the shelter and the surrounding environment entices you to explore and Vipp satisfies this urge with rental canoes and kayaks made available from the property next door (we strongly recommend this to take in the spectacular view of the woodlands from the lakeside).
Inside, natural light, high ceilings and a predominantly glass exterior give a feeling of space and expanse. The interior serves as a showroom for Vipp, their products and modules are used throughout. The floors are heated and the walls are covered in felt, making for a warm experience that justifies sliding the huge windows open, allowing you to immerse yourself a little deeper into the outside environment. Light a fire before sunset, cook hearty meals in the sleek kitchen module, head to the daybed to watch Netflix (there’s Wifi) or simply sit back and read a book.
Stay at the Vipp Shelter for a secluded experience where you can appreciate a seamless pairing of nature and design.
