Italian Restaurant Find: Bestia LA
Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis aren’t just people with exotic, cool sounding names; they’re also the powerhouses behind LA’s Bestia, a progressive, multi-regional rustic Italian restaurant housed in a converted warehouse in Downtown LA’s far eastern edge.
Their ”˜from scratch’ approach has resulted in the most authentic ”˜clean-up rustic’ (coined by Menashe himself) Italian food this side of America, winning Bestia it’s yearly accolades (the latest saw Menashe being honored among Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs of 2015).
Menashe’s house-made charcuterie, handmade pastas and pizzas created from local produce with distinct Middle Eastern and Italian flavors are perfectly balanced with flavors that cry “Bestia’s Italian!” But it’s the pairing with Gergis’ savory sweet desserts that form Bestia’s winning coupling, like butter to bread or bacon to eggs.
Its such a rare pleasure to book a table at a restaurant knowing they’ll deliver quality eating on each and every occasion, thank you Bestia for being that restaurant.
