LA Restaurant Find: Baco Mercat
BACO MERCAT, DOWNTOWN LA
Baco Mercat is largely famous for Chef Josef Centeno’s signature flatbread which he uses as a vessel for all sorts of delicious things like beef carnitas and crispy shrimp. If you thought that sounded like a taco, you guessed right, only these are Bacos ”“ get it? Bread-slash-taco? Ha-ha.
Humorous word play aside, this restaurant serves up some quality small dishes ”“ the standouts definitely coming from the vegetable section of the menu. So if you’re looking for a light dinner, this could be your place because you won’t be sacrificing any flavour, that’s for sure.
Best Bit: Well my best bit was sitting right beside Bryan Greenberg from How to Make it in America (so LA to be sitting next to a celeb!) but your best bit will probably be the blistered okra with tomato, fenugreek and Salsa.
