Melbourne Restaurant Find: Abla’s
Abla’s, a long time darling of the Melbourne restaurant scene, has been serving up what Melburnians agree to be the best home-style Lebanese food in the city.
Things haven’t changed much since Abla’s opened in the 1970’s and this is what makes it such a special restaurant. Abla herself, a Lebanese woman with the most delightful smile still owns and operates the kitchen keeping a keen eye on the quality of food that she’s best known for.
Even the interiors of the residential style restaurant have barely changed. Once inside you get this wonderful impression that you’re dining inside your Lebanese friend’s family home with mothers, sisters, aunties and grandmothers rushing around feeding loved ones with smoky baba ganoush and Lebanese chicken and pilaf rice.
When you get the chance to dine with Abla, order the banquet menu. At $60, it’s the best value tasting menu in the city.
