Newcomers to the downtown restaurant scene like Dimes make the once desolate intersection of Chinatown and the Lower East Side the area for cool new restaurant watching.

The arrival of Dimes makes me a happy bruncher, luncher, and all day breakfaster. I’m happy because of the gorgeous natural light that streams into the space making the fresh, organic and locally sourced food (not to mention the good looking diners), look and taste even more delicious. Dimes takes culinary inspiration from fresh and health conscious LA and it borrows the clean and functional design aesthetics from Japan and Scandinavia ”“ they clearly know what I like!

If you’re there on the weekend be sure to order the Winter Hash with buttercup squash, brussels sprouts, black rice, ginger, scallion topped with a side of avocado and bacon. Remember to thank me later.
