Patisserie Find: Craftsman and Wolves San Francisco
Worlds collide at San Francisco’s cult hit contemporary patisserie, Craftsman and Wolves. An intermingling of neck tattooed hipsters, tech mavens, and gawking tourists come together over fare that is both masculine and feminine, rustic and refined, elegant and approachable. Simply put, the patisserie breaks molds and looks great doing it.
Chef William Werner carved out a baked goodness genre of his own with the opening of his flagship Valencia Street space. At CAW, modern design elements like geometric lines and polished cement meet rustic touches like exposed red brick and tree trunk pastry displays. The dichotomy continues with the food and beverage lineup. Creations like the Horchata Cube Cake belong in Art Forum while the baguettes appear as traditional as can be. Join fellow customers and peruse the pastries inside the glass display case, as you would appreciate paintings inside a museum.
There’s plenty to eat and drink at the patisserie to keep customers happy from sunrise to sunset. Start the day with some Highwire Coffee Roasters brew and the cinnamonÂforward “Damn Fine” Granola served with Straus organic yogurt and fresh market fruit. Later in the day, hit up CAW for a craft beer and the legendary Haute Dog, an all beef hot dog with whole grain mustard, salt and vinegar beet chips, and a signature croissant bun.
