Underground Dining: SOSHARU ソーシャル by Melting Butter x Sosh
We spend a lot of time here at Melting Butter curating the best restaurants, experiences and hotspots around the world. So how would it look if we put our money where our proverbial mouths were?
This Sunday we did just that and launched our underground dining series, SOSHARU ソーシャル (the Japanese word for social) with our hosting partner Sosh, a personal concierge app that helps answer that Saturday morning question all New Yorkers inevitably ask ”“ what should we do today?
In realizing our idea for SOSHARU, Melting Butter curated the best of Japan in New York in a lunch series that would artfully celebrate contemporary Japanese food, drinks, design, music and culture.
Sunday’s launch was a huge success and if you like what you see below, 8 tickets for Melting Butter and Sosh readers can be purchased for $75 over at Sosh ”“ don’t sleep on this one!

THE FOOD
For the first time ever, the 3-star New York Times, notoriously hard to get into Sushi Yasuda will take the restaurant out of its usual context and offer an elaborate, bespoke omakase experience. This is a rare opportunity to be guided in an intimate setting by master sushi chef Mitsuru Tamura in the art of sushi and its refined eating customs.
THE SPACEӬ
A NoMad loft space will be totally transformed into a contemporary Japanese Garden by Satoshi Kawamoto, the cult plant artist and owner of Green Fingers.
THE DRINKS
A list curated by sake sommelier Chizuko Niikawa (formerly of Sakagura) and custom cocktails by 13th Street Cocktails will provide a delicate balance.
SOSHARU ソーシャル guests will also receive Sushi Yasuda’s secret friends + family booking number as a special gift.
Special thanks to Where They Create for documenting the creation of SOSHARU, Sandy Siu for prop styling, Billur Kazaz for illustration and design, Michael Sharp for filming, Space28 for their beautiful space, and Natasha Garoosi for production assistance.
